We're here for you...

Having heard what happened to two of my friends, once again my "problems" are dwarfed. We should be grateful for what we have. Hang in there, my thoughts are with you guys.

Time heals all wounds...

...but dreams re-open them. Maybe each time it'll hurt less. Perhaps I should first stop talking about it, ha ha!

Anyway, I got persuaded into helping the solar car team by helping them move the car to the All about Cars show at the International Centre, Mississauga. Unfortunately, I made a rookie mistake and touched the solar panel - man, what a dumbass I was@!##@$%%#!@#@! Maybe in time they'll also forget what I did, ha ha! I can't tell if they're not pissed or just being nice, but I know that was definitely a no-no. But anyway, I saw a whole bunch of riced up cars there and stuff, but my friend commented on how the solar car is prolly the most expensive out of all of them, even the Lamborghini there... It's kind of funny cause the solar car was definitely out of place and everybody I saw noticed it and gave it a second look, as opposed to some of the other cars on display. Well, I've got a survey report to write and food to eat... Maybe they'll help also :D

Shameless

Here's some blatent advertising: If you're ever bored, go check out http://suberfantacularizzle.blogspot.com. It's basically got interesting links posted by various ppl (although right now, mostly k3v). Coincidentally, he beat me to advertising about that site on his, but ah well, sue me, heh. Oh yeah, for the "agree with Byron" - it's an interesting idea, but some more planning is needed. Right now, it's making our campus look uglier (if possible) cause it just looks like graffiti (granted it's prolly authorized by our uni, so it isn't). If someone takes some pics, I can show you what I mean... I wonder if ppl have complained though, as I'm starting to see posters being put up instead of more ppl drawing all over the campus with chalk.

Hmmmm, time to go watch some Harsh Realm (thanks a lot for it btw!) - so much better than Matrix... Even Dark City too, but sadly critics don't agree... maybe that's why LOTR won so many awards.

Everybody's a winner!

Not a real entry today, but since I touched on contests briefly last time, well, someone just passed this to me and so far, it seems like everyone who enters wins... so yeah, knock yourself out! However, you'll have to use Napster... and they don't exactly have a huge collection of jpop...

Extensions

Okay, so after reading the bit on RSS feeds on orangefever.net, I decided to give it a try as I am also getting annoyed at going around and reading stale blogs - plus, I like to have all of my news combined in one area (hence my.yahoo.com). Anyway, so I installed Sage, an extension for Firefox for RSS and ATOM feed aggregator and it's pretty nifty. With alt-s, I've got links to sites that publish RSS feeds and by clicking on them, I generate a simple page with their articles, starting from their most recent on top. Very convenient :D In fact, I just wasted a good hour or 2 just reading news... However, my Sage would be more useful still if ppl who use blogger also publish their blogs in ATOM format (it's in your Settings->Site Feed)... And for those who have their own site, write a script that'll do the same pls??? I'm a lazy bum and I don't want to have to click my way around :D

But Firefox also has several other extensions also that might be nifty. For one, they've got a StockTicker for the browser that is pretty nifty and I know one of my business friend loves it (and so might you, you linux/firefox freak - yeah, I'm talking about you!) Personally, I like WeatherFox, which pulls forecasts from weather.com for a city of your choosing and populates them in the browser (I've got it populated in my status bar, but u can change that). Now I no longer have to access www.uwaterloo.ca/weather.html for local weather! All I have to do is glance down while checking my email :P Ahhhh, gotta love technology, makes life so much easier!

Oh yeah, I didn't win anything at the last MS seminar, so yeah, unlike what you claimed, I don't win everything!!@#

What's with the hype around Skype?

I was just chatting with a buddy who introduced me to Skype a while back (but I never got around to using it) when he reminded me of it again. (For those of you who don't know, it's a P2P program that lets you make phone/voice calls over the internet - pls note internet is now or soon to be internet as per orangefever.net, not Internet!) The last time I checked, Skype's site was ugly looking with a very basic red and white page. Now, it's like totally revamped and looks legit... Anyway, I'm gonna try it tomorrow on my real machine when I get back, but right now, I'm wondering what's up with Skype. Even the chairman of FCC gave a review on it... Everybody says its quality is very good, yet it's free (for Skype to Skype calls)... And Skype to phone calls are apparently very competitive according to my buddy, but how're they making money? The fact that they're made by ppl who brought us Kazaa might give us a clue, but it promised no spyware, adware nor malware on their site! Anyway, its like freaking 4am and I don't feel like doing much digging at this hour... But if any of you know, I'd like to know too! (There doesn't seem to be ads in their screenshots... but I guess I'll know when I install it tomorrow)

But another even more fascinating thing I found, which perhaps all of you know, is that you can use earphones as microphones! I mean, the mechanics/physics behind it is so simple, yet it never occurred to me that it's possible to just use an earbud as a microphone! This is geeky, but wth, I'm looking forward to trying it out tomorrow! (BTW, my friend just tried powered and nonpowered speakers/earphones, and he said it only worked on nonpowered ones for him.) Never will I have to buy a microphone again, I'll just use my headset, as I've got a couple floating around anyway....

Oh yeah, thanks for calling me up, ha ha, it was a pleasant surprise! Hrmmm, if you install Skype, then perhaps next time you can call me via that and we can talk about Naruto online!

If You Wanna Be Happy...

On the topic of male oink oink, my friend showed me this song and I have to admit, it's not bad! Pretty catchy too! I've posted the lyrics since I can't just distribute mp3s can I?

If You Wanna Be Happy
By Jimmy Soul

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

A pretty woman makes her husband look small
And very often causes his downfall.
As soon as he marries her
Then she starts to do
The things that will break his heart.
But if you make an ugly woman your wife,
You'll be happy for the rest of your life,
An ugly woman cooks her meals on time,
She'll always give you peace of mind.

Don't let your friends say
You have no taste,
Go ahead and marry anyway,
Though her face is ugly,
Her eyes don't match,
Take it from me she's a better catch.

Say man.
Hey baby.
Saw your wife the other day.
Yeah?
Yeah, she's ugly.
Yeah, she's ugly but she sure can cook.
Yeah?. Okay.

BTW, this is posted on www.theromantic.com. I've no clue why a song like this is considered a love song, but hey, maybe that's why I'm not a romantic and am left to me lonely self. But would my wife really want me to sing a song about how ugly she is? I'd try, but she'll prolly be gone by the 2nd verse....
